Coyote Pride

Richland Springs varsity Coyotes won a standing-room only state semifinals game against Trinidad 70-22 at Hico last Friday. It was a relatively warm night game that proved to be an exciting game, at least for the Coyote fans. This Saturday, December 15th the Coyotes will play Rule in the state finals match-up at San Angelo ISD’s stadium. Game time is tentatively set for 7:00 or 7:30. This is a rematch of last year’s state finals which was the highest scoring 6-man state game in history. Pep rally for this week’s game will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at the Richland Springs gym. Come cheer the Coyote team on to victory!!

Girls basketball coach Tony Dodson and the Lady Coyotes are off to a red hot 13-1 start. The Lady Coyotes won the Cherokee Tournament with consecutive victories over Sidney, Blanket, and Cherokee. The varsity Lady Coyotes played Brookesmith at home on Tuesday and will play Angelo Christian at home on Friday, December 14th at 6:00 p.m. The junior high teams played at Rochelle last week with the Richland Springs jr. high girl’s team losing a close game and the Richland Springs jr. high boys winning big!! The junior high hosted the Eden Bullpups at home on Monday, December 10th. Come out and support our young athletes in UIL competition.

Mr. McKee has completed student entries in the major stock shows at San Antonio, San Angelo, Houston, and Fort Worth. Mr. McKee reminds all students with stock show entries to take classroom studies seriously. In order to show animals at the San Saba County show, students must be passing all classes at the end of the third six-week period which ends on December 21, 2007.

Students in grades 1-7 enjoyed a field trip to San Angelo for Christmas at Fort Concho on Friday, December 7th. Thanks to the teachers and staff who escorted students to this educational event.

The annual student Semester Awards/Christmas Program has been scheduled for Tuesday, December 18th at 6:30 p.m. in the cafetorium. Everyone is invited to attend.

The Christmas holidays will soon be upon us. Semester exams are scheduled for students on Wednesday, December 19th, Thursday, December 20th, and Friday, December 21st. Students are encouraged to be at school during semester exams in order to avoid receiving incomplete grades for the 1st semester. Students have an early out at 12:55 on December 21, 2007, and classes resume for students on January 7, 2008.

Remember to come watch our Coyotes at San Angelo on the ROAD TO STATE……….

We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. It looks to be a great year at Richland Springs.
