Coyote Pride

Cool weather has finally arrived and jackets are feeling good after the sun goes down. The Varsity Coyotes opened district play this past Friday night in Eden and beat the Bulldogs by a score of 70-24!

The Varsity Coyotes are now 6-0 on the year and 1-0 in district. The Varsity Coyotes play Robert Lee at Coyote Field at 7:30p.m. on Friday, October 17th. The Jr. High Coyotes remain undefeated on the year as they defeated the Eden Bulldogs by a score of 46-27!

The Junior High Coyotes are now 4-0 on the year! The Junior High plays at Robert Lee at 5:30 p.m. this Thursday. The Junior Varsity will play Water Valley at Robert Lee immediately following the Junior High game.

The Mighty Coyote Band under the direction of Dwayne Bishop is sounding better each week. Mr. Bishop is getting the uniforms ready to wear during cooler weather. Come out and support the band, cheerleaders, and the student athletes at the games, you won’t be disappointed!

Mr. Hogue will have Junior High UIL math tutorials after school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week.

Juniors and Sophmores took the PSAT test this past Wednesday. This test provides preparation for the SAT test which many students take for college entrance. Juniors who score well on this test can qualify as Commended Scholars, National Merit Scholarship Semi-finalist and Finalists. Any one of these above recognitions usually qualifies students for scholarships in colleges and universities.

This past week Jerry Burkhart, Gerald McKee, Travis Winn and I attended Emergency Operations Plan/Rapid Responder training at the Region XV Service Center in San Angelo. This past summer Jerry Burkhart and Gerald McKee attended 3 days of training in Emergency Operations Planning. Teachers were briefed on responding to district emergencies.

The district now has an updated Emergency Operations Plan to enable responses to various emergencies. Part of this plan requires all visitors to sign-in at the principal’s office prior to any classroom visits. The faculty and staff strive to ensure the safety of all of our students.

It’s great to see our community supporting students in their efforts to achieve. We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. It takes everyone working together to achieve success. Thanks for all you do!
