The cold front moved in this past weekend and with it just a small amount of rain, but no ice. Monday morning woke up to a cold, cloudy overcast day and according to the weathermen it will warm up again on Tuesday, by the time you read this you will know if the predication was right or wrong. It is about time for some nice crisp weather, no ice though. Santa may have to wear long johns after all.

Last Wednesday the Price family attended the Central Texas Council of Governments annual banquet at Temple, also attending was Judge Bryon Theodosis of San Saba who was elected to serve on the Executive committee.

Then Thursday to Midland for the retirement luncheon of Arco employees, visited with grandkids and great grandkids before returning home Friday.

Congratulations goes out to the Stinnett family. Jimmy and Sylvia Stinnett are the proud new grandparents of a new little girl born Friday, December 7. Her name is Mary Sue (Suzie) Stinnett. Just hours old and already a nickname. She arrived at ST Paul’s in Dallas and weighed in at 7 pounds and 4 ounces with scads of black hair. Her proud parents are Garrison and Brooke Stinnett. The proudest of all is her big brother Gunter. Jimmy and Sylvia made the trip to Dallas to see the new granddaughter Saturday.

Sorry to hear that Lucille Underwood had to be admitted back into the hospital last week for a few days, but is once again back home recuperating.

Barbara Jones spent a couple of days visiting friends in Killeen this past week. She has been busy getting ready for all the events that will be going on around the Bend and else where. It is that time of the year when things start picking up speed.

The home of William and Jane Clark was a hub of activity Sunday night as the Clark’s hosted a party for church members and friends. A large group enjoyed the food and fellowship.

The Bend Community Christmas dinner will be December 15, at 6:30 p.m., turkey dressing, ham and all the trimmings will be served. You are asked to bring a dish and/or a dessert; everyone is welcome. Santa Clause will make an appearance and visit with all the youngsters and a Chinese Christmas will be enjoyed by the adults. If you have a child who will be attending it is asked that you bring a present so that Santa can hand it out to your child. A man should bring a gift suitable for a man, a woman for a woman for the Chinese gift exchange. Be prepared to come and have a good time.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Cody Keeney who will celebrate a birthday December 17, to Donnie Eckhoff who will celebrate a birthday December 18 as will Diane Dowdy.
