Thursday, October 16, 2008 • Posted October 16, 2008

The Bosque Conservatory Art Club proudly announces their 6th Annual Art Show and Sale in conjunction with Clifton's Main Street "FallFest Celebration." The show opens Saturday, October 18th at 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. at the Clifton Civic Center.

The judge for this year's show will be Tom Paulson. Mr. Paulson was born in Fort Worth, Texas. He showed artistic ability in elementary school and has continued with art all his life. After graduating college with a B.A. degree in art, he worked in the art department of General Dynamics drawing military aircraft. He later went to an in-house art department of an industrial maintenance firm, where he worked for 25 years as an art director. During those years, he also enrolled in professional painting and sculpture workshops.

In 1990, Paulson began making frames for his own artwork. He gained a following and soon other artists were using his frames for their work. In 1999, Tom and his wife moved to Bosque County and began a business making frames, as well as continuing with his own artwork. His work has been shown at The Roundup and the Collectors Classic at the Museum of Western Art in Kerrville, the Panhandle Plains Invitational in Canyon, Night of the Artist in San Antonio, and the Stamford Art Foundation and Mountain Oyster Show in Tucson.

The Bosque Conservatory Art Club invites artists from surrounding communities to enter their work in the show and sale. Six categories will be judged. Oils, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, pastel or colored pencil and drawings. The drawing category includes ink, crayon, chalk, marker, charcoal, graphite and colored pencil.

There will be two divisions - Adult and Youth. Adult includes anyone 18 years old and over. Entries in the Adult division must be framed for hanging, wire hanger only, and will cost $10.00 per entry, or three entries for $25.00.

The Youth division will be divided by grades: 1-4; 5-8; and 9-12. These works must be protected with a fixative to prevent damage and there will be a limit of five entries per student at $1.00 per entry. In the Youth division, entries must be matted (construction paper mats are acceptable) or framed.

Entry fees are non-refundable. Overall size of works may not exceed 30"x42". Suggestive, explicit and demonic entries will not be considered for the show. Artist's name, medium, and phone number must be on the back of each entry.

Artwork must arrive at the Civic Center the day before the show to allow time for hanging and judging. In the Adult Division, artwork will be accepted from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Youth division entries will be accepted from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. After the show, artwork must be picked up between 5:50 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
