Reports all went home last week, so we start the whole process over. The continual search for wisdom and passing grades! The kids are finally settling into the school routine; it took awhile to shake summer off. I think this is less of a problem in the North since summer goes away much faster! Whatever the reason, I’m glad the students are getting some work done!

I’m not sure I can last until the first week in November, where these elections are concerned. Every day some ugly ad comes on, or another warning email crosses my screen. I can’t say that I want to put my trust in any of these self-pleasing pompous donkeys!

They are safe and secure in their plump retirement incomes, meanwhile mine is teetering on the brink of disaster! No sweat, theirs is paid for by me, Honest Citizen, no need to worry about depression markets! I can tell by the news that they still don’t get the picture.

We, the people, are fed up with their attitudes, partisan bickering, and don’t give a darn attitudes. We the people, want this government to start focusing on we the people; not we the party! To quote the Bible,” if my people, who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then shall I hear form heaven, and heal their land.”

George and Donna Hill have been in San Antonio this weekend. The doctors decided to remove George’s colon since it was not working. When I spoke with Donna, George was doing well and they expect to be home around Wednesday.

Our prayers are still being sent up for David Evans, he has good weeks, and not so good weeks. He has fought a valiant fight with this cancer, and God has come to his rescue more than once, when Doctors were stumped. We serve a healing God.

They tell me Mode Mask will be out of the hospital, but will need to go to the nursing home until he totally recovers.

This Friday is 5th Quarter at the Baptist Church. This community event occurs every home game. We are going to invite the visiting team, Robert Lee, to come and eat, since there are no restaurants open at that time of the night, in our area. We are expecting a good crowd. Should you wish to bring by a dish or dessert, by all means feel free to do so!

We will be serving the boys a Mexican dinner again, since it appears to be one of their favorites. We get lots of brags on the great cooks in this town!

Saturday night Elm Grove will hold a “singing” at the community center. Wayne tells me somewhere around 7:00 p.m. or as soon as everyone gets there. I’ve attended one of these gospel singing nights and it was a treat!

Coffee and dessert is served to the attendees to give them a little more energy to keep on singing! Polish your tonsils and come join us Saturday evening the 18th.

The Stars and Stripes Committee will be holding a fundraising dinner on Saturday the 25th of October. Ginger tells me it is to be a barbeque dinner with your choice of chicken, sausage or brisket. All the fixings come with the plate.

The committee decided to charge $5.00 per plate, but since this is going towards our July 4th celebration, you might be a little more generous as the plate goes by!

The dinner will be held at the community center from 12 noon until they run out of food. Come on by; take your sweetie out to lunch!

Clara Walsh had a special treat this Sunday. Billie George McKinnerney and Billie Stanley picked her up, and took her to Brady for lunch. It’s always a special treat when friends come by and visit.

Parents, we are pushing our kids to read aloud at home. It is crucial to their education; they must learn to read fluently, and enlarge their vocabulary bank.

Mrs. Brockman wants them to work on their times tables. Math is much easier once you get those math facts memorized.

We have started UIL practice at the elementary level. Although they work at school, to be really successful, they must also work at home. UIL could be the door that opens the scholarship pockets for your student!

Mrs. Gossett is pleased with the Box Tops that are coming in with the kids, but we are greedy and need more!

Fifth Graders will be selling chocolate bars shortly. These kids are absolutely determined to earn the money for their field trip, and I know they are going to reach their goal.

I hope everyone has a super week. Please pray for our elections, our government, our economy and our President.

Always we lift up our marvelous troops who endanger themselves to protect us. May God find a way to bring them home victorious and safe. Have a blessed week.
