Bangs quarterback Bradley Lee was almost as fast as the lightning that delayed the start of the game last Friday night in Bangs. Lee and running back Deshawn Johnson accounted for over 200 yards rushing and all four Dragon touchdowns in the 27-0 victory over the Armadillos. Lee was also 8-11 passing for another 72 yards. Jack Whitten and Gary Gant had some holes to run through during the game but the Dillo receivers had problems catching the ball.

After an hour delay because of lightning in the area, San Saba received the kick to start the game. The Armadillos were moving down the field before Whitten’s arm was hit as he was throwing and the ball went straight up. It came down among several Dragon players for the interception.

Bangs ran six plays to score the initial touchdown of the game. The drive was highlighted by a 37-yard run by Bradley Lee. Lee scored from a yard out. Grant Bear added the PAT and Bangs led 7-0.

San Saba got the ball with 6:12 left in the quarter. They drove down the field again, but a 38-yard field goal was partially blocked as the clock went to 0:00.

The Armadillo defense held the Dragons again forcing another punt. This drive ended with a fumble at the Dillo 25.

Three plays later, Deshawn Johnson scored on a 16-yard run. Bear was accurate on the PAT and the lead was 14-0. San Saba could not score before halftime.

The Dragons had the ball to start the second half but the Dillos held. The punt was downed at the 19-yard line.

The Armadillos used 7:23 of the clock but turned the ball over on a failed fake punt at the Dragon 36. Bangs drove for another score in the final period behind the running of Lee and Johnson. Bradley Lee got his second score of the game on a 1-yard plunge. The PAT failed and the Dragons led 20-0.

San Saba moved down the field again behind the arm of George Long. A 20-yard pass into the end zone for Ryan Plumley fell incomplete on 4th down and the Dragons took over there.

Deshawn Johnson capped the drive with a 7-yard scamper for the points. Grant Bear kicked the Dragons to the 27-0 lead.

San Saba could not move and the Diego Gonzalez punt ended at the 47 of Bangs. The Dragons ran out the clock to go 2-0 in district play. San Saba fell to 1-1.

The Armadillo offense was led by Gary Gant with 67 yards. Jack Whitten added 59 yards. Whitten and George Long combined to complete 4 of 16 passes for 91 yards in the game.
