On Friday night a light sprinkle and lots of lightening and thunder, it was quite a display. Then glory be! Sometime Sunday night the rain came leaving more than 2 inches of rain. There was not any run off, but the ground got a good soaking. The electricity was off for some time early Monday, not only here but it was reported to have been off in Brownwood also.

Barbara Jones and her sister Glenda Scroggins both were dismissed from the hospitals on the same day. Barbara from Rollins Brook in Lampasas and Glenda from Scott and White in Temple.

Glenda was on her way home from Temple and stopped by to check on Barbara just in time to hear that she had been released also, so Dennis took both ladies home. At the last report both ladies are recuperating nicely.

Belle Marley is recuperating at home after a long stay in the Manor Nursing home in Lampasas. Everyone is praying she doesn’t have any more falls.

Thursday Bill and Jo were in Marble Falls for Jo’s sixth month checkup and everything was just fine. Afterward they met up with long time friend Bowman Seals of Round Mountain at the Blue Bonnet café for lunch and caught up on all the news.

Bill and Jo Price was in Brady Saturday for the Central Texas Telephone annual meeting. The turn out was the smallest ever. It may have been the gas crunch or something, but it wasn’t the weather as it was a very nice day.

While there they visited with Keith Lemons, who was catering the fish lunch that was served. He reported that his mother Gloria was better than she had been in a long time and was no longer using the oxygen.

Jerome and Shirley Meischen left last Tuesday for Colorado to get in some sight seeing. They went thru the Independence Pass, the Rocky Mountains, and got into some snow where the temperature was 30 degrees, but the big thrill was attending the Texas Longhorn and the Colorado Buffalos to see their grandson Blake Gideon play ball and the defeat of the Buffalos. Other members of the family attended the game also. It was a long trip but well worth the effort.

The Meischen family traveled 901 miles and arrived home Monday at 2:00 A.M. They may have brought some of the moisture with them, who knows?

Saturday, October 18 the big Bend fish fry, a cake auction and silent auction will take place around 5:00 p.m. Tickets for adults $10.00 and children 12 and under $5.00. That will include sides of pinto beans, cole slaw, pickles, onions, hush puppies, tea or water and delicious cake for dessert.

If you go away hungry, it will be your own fault as there will be plenty to eat. Jackie Brister is fixing the fish. There is none better anywhere.
