Courtney Beth Van Cleave, 22, of Lajitas, Texas, formally of San Saba, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2008 in Alpine, Texas. She was born September 11, 1986, in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, the daughter of Troy Lee Van Cleave and Lori Atchison Van Cleave. She was a horse trainer and attended the Baptist church.

She is survived by her mother, Lori Gandy and her husband, A.B., of Grandfalls, Texas; father, Troy Van Cleave and his wife, Pam, of Richland Springs, Texas; paternal grandmother, Rachel Mueller and her husband, Paul, of Burnet, Texas; maternal grandfather, Leon Atchison of Brady, Texas; maternal grandmother, Judy Hanks and Ken Bode of Voca, Texas; two sisters: Jennifer Moody and her husband, Wesley, of San Saba; and Abigail Gandy of Grandfalls, Texas; one brother, Benjamin Van Cleave of Richland Springs, TX; one stepsister, Rena Cummings of San Saba; one step brother, Jonathan Cummings of San Saba; aunts: Cathy Rome and her husband, Bryan, of Austin, Texas; Eleanor Brown of Austin, Texas; Julie Atchison of Brownwood, Texas; and Dana Drazan and her husband, Matt, of Rocksprings, Texas; Uncle Jimroy Atchison and his wife, Lisa, of Mason, Texas; and one niece and one nephew, Caitlyn and Garrett Moody of San Saba, TX.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, B.T. Van Cleave.

Funeral services for Courtney will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in San Saba with Rev. Sam Crosby officiating. Interment will follow at the San Saba City Cemetery.

The family requests that memorials be made to the San Saba County Volunteer EMS.
