The American Junior Rodeo Association National Finals Rodeo in San Angelo kicked off July 28th and ran through Saturday, August the 2nd. San Saba’s own Ross Williams took home two AJRA World Championship Titles.

Williams led the field in the Tie-down Calf Roping and with a second round time of 8.8 seconds, closed the door on the title. Ross also came into the finals with a commanding lead in the Team Roping. He and his partner, Seth Mahaffey, from Sweetwater, Texas nearly swept the finals in the 16-19 Team Roping. With a win in the short round and the average win, they sealed the deal in the Team Roping. Ross won the average in the 16-19 Tie-down Calf Roping, won the second round and took the title of World Champion 16-19 Tie Down, World Champion 16-19 Team Roping Heeler and Reserve Champion 16-19 Boys All Around.

With a total of five Gist Trophy Buckles, two Coats Saddles and nearly $1000.00 cash it was a great finals.

Ross was sponsored by Harry’s Department Store, owners Ken Jordan and Clay Nettleship
