Ladies Golf Notes

The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met September 14, 2008 for play day with the Chair for September, Sandee Hartley, calling for a practice, for the traveling 4-ball tourney which will be held September 18 in San Saba, using the point system. Jo Ann Snow was the only lady to make 40 points to win first place and also scored the low gross and low net for the day. Great day for Jo Ann!Second place went to Hattie Rogers and third place to Bobbie Churchill.

September 18, 2008 the San Saba ladies hosted the monthly traveling 4-ball tournament. The Chair, Sandee Hartley, welcomed the players and they were served donuts, coffee, and juice.

Pat Ribb and Nell McHorse faithfully worked in the snack bar. I call these ladies great members, they can’t play but are willing to serve! Hats off to Pat and Nell! Through out the day they served our visiting ladies snacks of cheese, peanut butter, crackers, and tea.

There were 27 ladies participating and San Saba had winners! Dorothy Sterner was on the first place team and personally scored 44 points! Great round for Dorothy. Anita Miles and Bobbie Churchill were on the second place team, Jo Anne Hardy’s team tied for third and fourth, and Sandee Hartley was on the fifth place team. Hattie Rogers, Becky Hardin, and Shirley Hardin from San Saba also participated.

At lunch the ladies were served chicken spaghetti, green beans, salad, rolls, and cookies. This was prepared by our own caterer, Betty Ann Johnson and it was delicious as always! We had a special treat by being served by her handsome grandson, Ross Johnson, and his beautiful girlfriend, Kristi Bladow from Ladysmith, Wisconsin.

Kristi has been visiting in San Saba for the last few weeks and Ross has just finished his tour of duty with the United States Marines. We are so proud of Ross for serving his country! And I am sure so is Grandma Betty Ann! We teased Kristi that she couldn’t resist that uniform and she admitted that they actually met on the beach!

Sandee Hartley did a great job running the traveling 4-ball tourney as always! As I have stated before we are small in number but manage to function in a big way. And best of all we’re still out there “swinging”!
