Bill Sellman

Bill Sellman, 81, a resident of Cherokee, Texas passed away Saturday, September 20, 2008 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Temple, Texas. He was born March 11, 1927, in Rochelle, Texas, the son of Charlie Sellman and Vannie Long Sellman. He served with the United States Navy for 3 ½ years. He attended the Pentecostal church. Bill was a life time member of the VFW in Brady and a member of the Cherokee Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by three daughters: Billie Jean Bissette of Mansfield, TX; Sharon Kay Sellman of Crosby, TX; and Joy Jenkins and her husband, John, of Azle, TX; grandchildren: Jim Sellman Jenkins and his wife, Teryn; Randa Goode and her husband, Ronnie; Janis Patrick and her husband, James; Kara Ashworth and her husband, Roger; Marti Thompson and her husband, Jamie; Jeanne Cornelius, and Ashley Hall and her husband, Stephen; great-grandchildren: Monty Jenkins, Cotie Jenkins, Murri Jenkins, Cooper Sellman Jenkins, Mia Gordy, Ty Gordy, Jackson Thompson, Charlotte Thompson and Charlie Ashworth; one brother: Richard Sellman and his wife, Ida, of Fredericksburg, TX; four sisters: Lula Buntyn and her husband, Ray, of Ohio; Sue Wyres of New Braunfels, TX; Callie McMurry of New Braunfels, TX; and Sarah Sessom of Texarkana, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Roy Sellman and Charles Sellman.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home in San Saba, with Rev. Poncie Roach officiating. Interment followed at the Rochelle Cemetery.

Family requests that memorials be made to the Cherokee Volunteer Fire Department.

Funeral services were under the direction of the Howell-Doran Funeral Home.
