Goldthwaite rips 8th Dillos 30-6

The Goldthwaite 8th Eagles took advantage of San Saba 8th Dillos turnovers to defeat them by a score of 30-6.

Goldthwaite kicked to San Saba to open the season and the game. Shawn Argote raced for 30 yards good blocking by Corey Sander, Michael McKinnerney, Aaron Perez, Russell Lowe, Joe Lindsey, Nathan Amstead, Aaron Rixse and Diego Montoya.

The drive stalled and San Saba gave up the ball on downs. The San Saba defense led by J.T. Mathis, Luis Vega, Isaac Zepeda, Dusty Parum, Ryan Guidroz and Marcus Escobedo slowed the Eagles and forced an Eagle punt. Diego Montoya had a big hit during the series. Russell Lowe returned the punt 30 yards. Shawn Argote ran the ball to the Eagle sideline. The Dillos fumbled their next play. Goldthwaite drove the ball 93 yards and scored. The PAT was good 8-0 Eagles. The Eagles kicked to the Dillos as the quarter ended. The Dillos ran 3 plays and punted. Goldthwaite had a T.D. called back. The Eagles overcame the penalty and drove the ball to a score. The PAT failed 14-0 Eagles. Goldthwaite kicked off. Runs by Lowe added a first down. Ryan Guidroz ran for 8 more. A pass from Mathis to Juan Ortega netted 60 yards and a touchdown. The PAT failed 14-6 Eagles. San Saba kicked to Goldthwaite. The Eagle drive was stopped when Diego Lara intercepted a pass. The half ended.

San Saba kicked off to start the second half. Goldthwaite drove the ball on the Dillos and scored 22-6. There was good defense at times played by Garrett Hartranft, Trevor Tinney, Josh Robinson, Joe Lindsey, Russell Lowe, Diego Montoya and Marcus Escobedo.

Goldthwaite kicked. Russell Lowe had runs of 12 & 10 yards. Shawn Argote ran for 6 & 3 yards. Lowe added 3. Argote 10 as the quarter changed. Good offense by Jared Long, Nathan Amstead, Isaac Zepeda, Aaron Perez, Corey Turner and J.T. Mathis.

The drive stalled on a fumble at the Goldthwaite 10 that was returned for 50 yards. Goldthwaite drove down and scored and made the PAT for a 30-6 win. The 8th grade plays Johnson City here at 6:30 on Thursday.
