San Saba JV vs Goldthwaite
Thursday, September 18, 2008 • Posted September 18, 2008

San Saba's JV football team traveled to Goldthwaite on Thursday. The game was a hard fought defensive battle. Goldthwaite won the game 8-0. The kids played hard and never quit and the game went back and forth the entire evening. The difference in the game was Goldthwaite returned a punt for a touchdown.

Offensively, the Dillos ran the ball well. Zach Davis filled in for Allan Hale and made several good runs. Davis averaged 5 yards per carry with 100 yards on the ground and 19 receiving yards. Opening up big holes for the runners was the offensive line that consisted of Will Sloan, Dominic Rosales, Tanner Weyerts, Morgan Gilger, Cody Herd, Alex Cerrantes and Isaac Jimenez. The offense was highly successful in the air, too. Ryan Pannell threw the ball well with 8 of 12 passing and 110 yards passing. The leading receivers were Migel Flores, Isaac Jimenez, and Luke Cox.

The Dillo Defense was stingy all night. They surrendered a mere 90 yards of total offense. Isaac Jimenez, Migel Flores, and Will Sloan led the way for the defense with numerous tackles, and the defensive line that consisted of Weyerts, Rosales, Arrington, Cervantes, Herd, Rixse, and Hawkins, controlled the line of scrimmage. Other defensive stand outs were Dominic Rosales with a caused fumble, Morgan Gilger and Isaac Jimenez with fumble recoveries. The defense produced 5 negative yard plays.

Overall, the ball game was a hard fought game. The Dillos battled mightily and have shown improvements. We look forward to seeing their progress. Next week the Dillos will be at Johnson City at 6:00 P.M. We look forward to seeing you support our JV Dillos.
