First United Methodist Ladies hold annual Harvest Day Dinner
Thursday, September 18, 2008 • Posted September 18, 2008

The First UM Ladies met on Monday Sept 8th for the annual Harvest Day Dinner event. As their tradition continues, ladies brought out many wonderful homemade casseroles, salads and other goodies to enjoy. Barbara Gilger and her crew of Suzanne Walters, Nelda Weatherby, and Nettie Oma Carpenter served as hostesses and decorated all the tables in a festive harvest theme.

After dinner and a brief business meeting led by President Nettie Oma Carpenter, the guest speaker was introduced. Kerrville District UMW President Schatzie Norris from Comfort, TX spoke of her involvement with United Methodist Women and what a joy and pleasure it has been for her to serve in an area that truly gives and ministers all over the world. She encouraged all the ladies to continue to stay aware and in prayer for our missions around the globe. Ladies were also reminded of upcoming studies and events which would be very meaningful to attend.

Hazel McCoy of Goldthwaite, recognized as an always welcome guest, came with Mrs. Norris. Nettie Oma then announced that a monetary gift in mission was being purchased in honor of Mrs. Norris and her efforts to be with the ladies in San Saba. Seeming very pleased, Schatzie said she could receive no better gift.
