HEBREWS 12:2-3 "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith: Who for the occasion that was set before Him; endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. - For consider Him that endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds."

I have never heard the great message in this scripture preached from any pulpit, but it is vitally needed for Christians to know what happened to Christ while suffering on the cross for them. All true Christians will know, terrible physical pain caused the death of Jesus on that cruel cross, but they will also see there was something that hurt Him more than that pain. What actually hurt Jesus even more than physical pain is clearly seen in scripture, "He came unto His own and His own received Him not." All who are living in today's society have to see enough to know we are living in a very, very sinful nation and sinful world. If you are truly a Christian you will know that hurts Jesus and will probably anger God until He decides to punish our sins. That should strike fear in our hearts because the Bible shows God often punishes without mercy.

Documentation is again found in HEBREWS 4-6 "For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, and have tasted of the good Word of God, and of the powers of the world to come. If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put Him to an open shame." Now think, and ask yourselves the question-"how many millions of men and women in America do you believe are hurting Jesus like this with the shame that hurts worse than physical pain?" If people claim to be a Christian and turn back to the desires of the flesh, they are actually only hypocrites. They may be able to repent, and they may gain salvation, but they are unwittingly crucifying Christ again and putting Him to an open shame that will hurt Him worse than the pain He endured in His crucifixion.
