Ima Jean Busby

Ima Jean Busby, 77, of Brownwood, passed away Monday September 8th, 2008, at her residence. Funeral services, under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home, were held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday the 10th at the Austin Avenue Church of Christ in Brownwood. Interment followed at the Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early.

Ima Jean was born September 19, 1930, to Clieve and Mattie (Taft) Karnes in San Saba County, Texas. She was one of thirteen children. She attended school and graduated from San Saba High School. On June 22, 1948, Ima Jean married Frank Busby in San Saba. She was employed as a Food Service Manager for Brownwood Independent School District, working mostly at East Elementary; her family greatly enjoyed her wonderful cooking. She was very strong in her church work where she was a member of the Austin Avenue Church of Christ.

Mrs. Busby is survived by husband Frank Busby; son Jerry Busby and wife Patricia of Brown County; daughter Ann Burgess; fivegranddaughters, Lea Ann Busby, Michelle Busby, Shawnda Scitern and husband Stephen, Ginger Burgess, Sonya Herrera and husband Marco; four great grandchildren; four sisters, Charlie Henry and husband Gordon, Clyde Sellman, Neva Ray Hector, Juanice Davison and husband Bill; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Clieve and Mattie Karnes, and several brothers and sisters.
