Which Candidate?
Thursday, September 4, 2008 • Posted September 4, 2008

Many foreign countries do not give the people a choice of who their leaders will be. Countless times the rulers gained office by killing many people and taking control of the country with guns and they appoint their successor. He stays in office because if you voice disagreement you are imprisoned, beaten, shot or suddenly vanish. We live in a country where we get to choose our leaders. Over 30% of the people over eighteen are not even registered to vote and many who are registered do not even bother to go vote. I think it very important for Christians to be involved in the choosing of our leaders of our country. I think we need to ask ourselves what kind of elected officials do we want. It should not be a popularity or beauty contest. Does our candidate acknowledge or deny God? Do they advocate same sex marriages? Do they advocate the taking the lives of unborn babies, (abortion)? In general, Christians should support someone whose positions are consistent with God’s word, (Deuteronomy 1:13-15) We want someone who will protect our Christian values but not want a Church run government. What if we do not like any of the candidates? Vote for the best of the lot. We also have one other choice: we can choose or elect to let God into our lives and live for Him (Deuteronomy 30:15, 16&19, John 1:12). See you in church next Sunday.
