Brownwood Regional Medical Center announces Advisory Council for Healthy Woman Program

Brownwood Regional Medical Center (BRMC) has announced the names of fifteen select women who will lead the advisory council for the hospital’s newest program – Healthy Woman.

Set to kick off on October 28th, Healthy Woman will feature a monthly series of free seminars, health fairs, education programs and interactive events focusing on women.

“The women who make up this council are leaders in our community in a variety of ways,” said Matt Maxfield chief executive officer at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. “Through their civic, volunteer and community involvement, these diverse women are ambassadors for other women in their leadership roles, proactive community interest and progressive thinking.”

The Healthy Woman Advisory Council includes: Dr. Lisa Fowler, MD, Margie Young, RN, Kyla Berry, RN, Nadine Norman, Mariann Tackett, Tammi Elliott, Juliet Lemond, Betty Beyer, Bonnie Dillard, Ada Turner, Mandi Moore, Margaret Carter, Liz Brown, Jill Evans and Dawn Empey, RNC.

“These women will provide guidance to ensure that the issues that concern the women of our community are addressed by BRMC,” said Maxfield.

Women, who make between 80 and 90 percent of all healthcare decisions, often balance careers, primary and secondary families, issues with parents, and civic work. Healthy Woman was created by women for women to provide up-to-date healthcare information for the entire family. The mission of the program is to empower women with the knowledge and confidence to make informed healthcare and well-being decisions for themselves and their loved ones.

The free monthly presentations will cover physical and emotional healthcare, as well as financial well-being and spiritual development. Healthcare topics will include pertinent information on heart disease, diabetes, breast cancer, menopause, nutrition, osteoporosis, stress management and life balance issues.

The Healthy Woman Kickoff will be held on October 28th at The Depot. A free health fair will take place from 4:00 p.m to 6:00 p.m., followed by a dinner at 6:15 p.m. featuring nationally-noted motivational speaker Pat Love, who will address women’s health and life balance issues. The cost for the presentation with dinner is $10.00.
