The rain came down Saturday fast and furious leaving over an inch of rain in places around the Bend. Just seven tenths of rain fell at William Clark’s place.

Rain has been hopscotching around and at different times the down pour is heavy and other places it will just be a small amount.

What is needed now is a big general rain over the whole county. It is a shame some of the rain that flooded Florida could have been sent our way, giving those people and us some relief.

Jane Clark reported that on August 18, she, Danny Clark, and Bobby Clark attended the funeral of their Aunt Fannie Morrow at Lubbock. They also visited Boyd Clark and his family.

This past weekend Gladys Brister was in for the game night Thursday that Jane held at her home. Elsa Dean Shirley of Portales, N.M. came in Friday. Saturday Gladys, Jane, Elsa Dean, Kristi Messer and Jamie Houdyshell went to see “Mama Mia” once again.

Gladys and Elsa Dean hadn’t seen it and Jane thought that it was so good that they should see it. It must be good to go see it for a second time! Jane did report that they saw some things they that had missed the first time they went because they were laughing so hard.

Sunday, the Clark family celebrated Kristi’s birthday and last Sunday they celebrated Doug’s birthday.

Mebbie Eckhoff reported that she and Leon attended her 40th class reunion held in San Saba at the Senior Center Saturday. One of the teachers who attended was Jerry Spain. There was one class member who came from Oregon.

Also attending from the Bend was Toni Clark Mayben and from New Mexico Elsa Dean Shirley.

After much visiting the classes of 67 and 68 combined to enjoy a fish fry by Tommy and Clovia Ketchum at the Mill Pond Pavilion. Jolene Lively and Mebbie were in Temple Monday at Scott & White for Jolene to have a check up.

Bell Marley is still in the hospital and is in room 212 not 220 as reported in last week’s news.

Marie Arnold reported that Frank Alcorn is now in Lampasas at The Regal Nursing Home. He was a long time resident of the Bend before leaving and going to his place near China Creek.

A happy birthday goes out to Debbie Herd who will celebrate a birthday August 29, to Eric Hernandez and San Saba resident, Trenton Hamrick, who will celebrate a birthday August 30; to Nancy Hicks who will celebrate a birthday August 31; Penny Pearce on September 1; to Carl Adams whose birthday is September 3; to Barbara Jones, Myra Skinner and Nathan Davis, all who celebrate a birthday September 4.

Congratulations go out to Rufus and Tommie Cobern who will celebrate an anniversary August 30, and on September 2, Trenton and Patsy Hamrick will celebrate an anniversary.
