Agape house gets new name
Thursday, August 21, 2008 • Posted August 21, 2008

Following a short closure, the Agape House has opened with a new name - Shared Blessings. Volunteers have worked hard remodeling the inside of the building by opening up some interior walls, updating the lighting, and adding new flooring and signage. The group hopes to give a face-lift to the exterior as soon as possible.

The former Agape House was a non-profit clothing outreach that offered donated clothes, as well as housewares, at minimal prices. Shared Blessings will receive donations from all across the county and serve as a "Good Will" type of store. This outreach, sponsored by The Father's House, benefits everyone. It provides a place locally to donate items in good condition which can bless others. Shared Blessings can meet the clothing needs of many community members. It utilizes the Experience Works program along with the help of volunteers who donate their time unselfishly each week. The building is small but it takes a large effort to keep this outreach program available to the public.

Shared Blessings has connected with Charity Shoes and Clothing, Inc. of Dallas, which picks up the overflow clothing and then recycles it in various ways, including baling and sending overseas. This saves our city's landfill hundreds of pounds of trash each year and helps San Saba's efforts to stay "green."

Everyone is invited to come in to see the improvements, take a look at the merchandise, or drop off good clothing and houseware donations. Shared Blessings is located at 607 S. Cherokee, just behind the Post Office.
