Olympic Gold

It is very much sought after and the most prestigious award you can receive in the sports world. It started in ancient Greece before 776 BC. At first it was just foot races but over the years many other events have been included to where there over 28 different sports and over 300 events.

It is amazing to watch those young athletics that have trained and worked so hard for years just to stand in that winner’s circle to receive that very prestigious reward. Those young athletics remind me of something the Bible talks about. In Christianity just as in the Olympics you have to be qualified just to enter.

In Christianity you have had to accept Jesus Christ as Savior to be in the race, (John 1:12, Revelation 20:15).

In the Olympics there are rules and regulations and a violation will disqualify you or penalize you and it is the same in Christianity, (Hebrews 12:1&2).

Our rule book or guidelines is the Bible, (Revelation 22:7). If we adhere to it, (obey) there will be a great reward, (Isaiah 40:10&11, Revelation 2:26, Revelation 22:12). If we ignore or neglect it we will receive nothing or very little, (Revelation 20:12-15).

It is a beautiful sight to see those young athletics receive a reward for a great job or effort but I think it would even be more rewarding to receive a reward form the Lord Jesus for a job well done, (Matthew 25:21). See you in Church next Sunday. Brother J
