The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met August 7, 2008 for the monthly business meeting and play day. The President, Anita Miles, opened the meeting with prayer. The Secretary, Hattie Rogers, read the minutes and they were approved as read. The Treasurer, Bobbie Churchill, gave the financial report for June and July 2008.

The Traveling 4 Ball Chair, Becky Hardin, announced that Traveling 4 Ball for August will be at Packsaddle on August 21, 2008. If you plan to attend please call Becky by August 19, 2008.

The ladies voted unanimously to purchase a San Saba T-Shirt for any member expressing a desire for a shirt. The ladies will be operating the concession stand for the three person tournament on August 16 and 17, 2008. All members are asked to work during that weekend.

The ladies gave various reports on the plans for the Summer Four Lady Pecan Classic on August 23, 2008. If you haven’t entered your team you may do so by calling Anita Miles at 325-372-3581 or emailing anitass@centex.net.

The meeting adjourned for play day with the Chair for August, Sandee Hartley, beginning the Solheim play in the quest for the Little-Low Cup.

This tournament has been played for the last five years and all the ladies look forward to it. It is team play using the Solheim format and is played for five weeks. The player with the most points at the end of play will be declared the winner.

The game for August 7 was alternate shots with total score. Sandee Hartley and Jo Anne Hardy defeated Bobbie Churchill and Jo Ann Snow.

Anita Miles and Dorothy Sterner defeated Hattie Rogers and Becky Hardin in an extremely close match that was not won until the last hole. Therefore, Sandee Hartley, Jo Anne Hardy, Anita Miles, and Dorothy Sterner each have one point. Sandee Hartley had the only birdie of the day.

Pat Ribb joined the ladies for lunch and says she will be back for play - dictated by the temperature! We were glad to see Pat!

Every day our course looks better. Keith Harris has worked hard to get everything back on track and we appreciate his efforts. When you are on the links all you see is beautiful green grass and trees and blue skies and it just makes you happy to be “swinging!”
