Receipts totaled 5457 head for the week. The market was active and demand good. The market had a softer tone on the light weight calves due to the continued dry conditions causing the wheat field grazing to deteriorate and sending those light calves to grow yards or feed yards where the cost of gain is much higher than the wheat fields. The stocker steers were selling $4.00 lower and the heifers were $5.00 lower. The bigger feeder steers and heifers were steady to $1.00 higher. Packer cows and bulls sold steady to $3.00 lower after last week’s $3.00 increase. Bred cows, pairs and young bulls were in strong demand on a good offering of over 500 bred cows and 50 bulls.Steers: choice lightweight calves 160.00-205.00; choice medium weight calves 135.00-173.00; choice heavyweight calves 130.00-147.00Heifers: choice lightweight calves 150.00-197.50; choice medium weight calves 125.00-168.00; choice heavyweight calves 120.00-130.00Yearlings: choice lightweight steer yearlings 125.00-131.00; choice heavyweight steer yearlings 120.00-126.00; choice lightweight heifer yearlings 115.00-124.00; choice heavyweight heifer yearlings 110.00-121.00; #2 steer calves and yearlings 120.00-150.00; #2 heifer calves and yearlings 110.00-135.00; shorties and plainer calves and yearlings 110.00-125.00Bred Cows: choice bred cows 1300.00-2675.00; medium to good bred cows 1090.00-1290.00; plainer and older bred cows 900.00-1080.00Slaughter Cows: high yield 77.00-84.00; medium yield 71.00-76.00; low yield 65.00-70.00; heiferetts and young stockers 85.00-115.00Bulls: high yield 88.00-90.00; medium yield 85.00-89.00; low yield 82.00-84.00; feeder 80.00-88.00Pairs: Choice 1410.00-2300.00; medium to good 1260.00-1400.00; plainer and older 1050.00-1250.00Representative sales:Diamond D Ranch, Austin, 1 steer, 330 lbs 196.00Rocking M Ranch, San Saba, 1 steer, 415 lbs 173.00Paul Heard, Beeville, 5 steers, 534 lbs 147.00Hemphill Ranch Co, Coleman, 3 steers, 588 lbs 143.00Earl and Perry Patrick, Rochelle, 7 steers, 605 lbs 141.50Diamond K Ranch Company, Brady, 9 steers, 591 lbs 139.50Pecan Creek’s 4 Oaks Ranch, Llano, 3 steers, 692 lbs 131.00Diamond K Ranch Company, Brady, 10 steers, 786 lbs 129.00Vernon V Fritze, Jr, San Angelo, 5 steers, 786 lbs 126.00Ernest Ligon, Llano, 4 heifers, 411 lbs 154.00Rocking D Ranch, Gold-thwaite, 2 heifers, 433 lbs 143.00Marvin Weatherby, San Saba, 2 heifers, 590 lbs 131.00Diamond K Ranch Company, Brady, 4 heifers, 728 lbs 124.00Carl Freeling, 10 angus pair, 1700.00Carl Freeling, 11 angus cows, LB, 1500.00Keven A Kothman, Mason, 2 steers, 513 lbs 156.00McAllister Partnership, Men-ard, 2 steers, 590 lbs 154.00Dr. Chuck Romanick, Freder-icksburg, 2 steers, 580 lbs 144.00R E Lee Estate, Horseshoe, 5 steers, 604 lbs 142.50McAllister Partnership, Menard, 3 steers, 668 lbs 140.00Mitchell Maner, Harper, 5 steers, 651 lbs 139.00Bar E Ranch, Inc, Llano, 3 steers, 678 lbs 134.00McAllister Partnership, Men-ard, 2 steers, 785 lbs 128.00Hank Kimbriel, Mason, 3 steers, 792 lbs 123.00Lynn Skolnick, Sugarland, 4 heifers, 415 lbs 168.00Keven A Kothmann, Mason, 3 heifers, 450 lbs 142.00Curtis Eckhardt, Fredericks-burg, 2 heifers, 510 lbs 135.00J E Epperson, Rocksprings, 1 heifer, 650 lbs 121.00Bar E Ranch, Inc, Llano, 3 heifers, 748 lbs 117.00
