The San Saba Lady Dillos hosted the Lady Dragons from Bangs on Tuesday night. Bangs came out hot and jumped out to a 14-5 lead early in the 1st quarter. However, the Lady Dillos did not get discouraged but instead fought their way back into the game. San Saba took a 17-16 lead into halftime when Kayla Kutin hit a shot right before the buzzer sounded. The game was back and forth for much of the 2nd half, but the Lady Dillos finally pulled away with 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter. The Lady Dillos defeated Bangs by a score of 42-35. I was extremely proud of the girls and the way we battled. We started the game off slow but instead of getting rattled we kept our composure and gave ourselves a chance to win the game. Scoring for the Lady Dillos were Cromer 4, A. Maxcey 7, Kutin 6, C. Saldivar 5, M. Maxcey 18, and A. Saldivar 2. Later in the week, the Lady Dillos traveled to Junction for our final tournament of the season. To open the tournament, the Lady Dillos faced Comfort and defeated them by a score of 48-22. That same day, the Lady Dillos also played Junction. The Lady Dillos beat the Lady Eagles 47-30. Ingram was next up for the Lady Dillos and they would also go down by a score of 50-12. In the championship game, the Lady Dillos faced state ranked Brady. The Lady Dillos only trailed the Lady Bulldogs 9-12 at the end of the 1st quarter. However, the 2nd quarter would be the deciding factor in the game. Brady outscored the Lady Dillos 26-4 in the 2nd quarter and would go on the defeat the Lady Dillos 28-58. The Lady Dillos did take home the 2nd place trophy though and had a very good weekend of basketball! Great job girls! The Lady Dillos will face Rochelle on Tuesday night and will be open on Friday. We will then return to action on Dec. 18 against Menard. The Lady Dillos are having an exciting season so if you get a chance please come out and support the girls! Go Lady Dillos!
