Well some finally got their wish, and the winter weather will be around most of this week. Turn off air-conditioners and turn up the furnace. Time to put on sweat shirts, jackets and longjohns for a while, and put away the shorts, but it will begin to warm up again this next week.The Bend Community Christmas event will take place Saturday, December 15, at 6:00 P.M. Santa Claus will make an appearance to hand out gifts to the youngsters. Bring a gift for your child. Turkey, ham and dressing will be the main dish. Everyone is invited and asked to bring a dish and/or dessert.A Chinese gift exchange will take place for the adults. If you are a male bring a suitable gift for a man. Women bring a gift for a lady. Gifts should be wrapped or in a gift bag.Malissa Lemons reported that her daughter Lesa Preece is in Rollins Brook Hospital in Lampasas. They first thought she had a kidney stone, but it was determined later that it was her appendix and Dr. Nguyen will be doing the surgery Monday, December 10.Sylvia Stinnett reported that on Thanksgiving she and Jimmy went to Midlothian to spend Thanksgiving with Garrison, Brook, Gunner and Suzi Stinnett. They were joined by their daughter Autumn and her friend Brain Felps who spent three days with Garrison. Sylvia also reported on the trip she and daughter Autumn took to Galveston where Autumn attended a workshop. Garrison googled the satellite and could see his dad shredding a field. Just goes to show that no one has any privacy any more. It was reported in last weeks news that Sylvia celebrated a birthday December 7, which was not correct. Her birthday is in April and she sure didn’t need to celebrate another one. Her granddaughter Suzi celebrated her birthday December 7. Just put something in that isn’t correct and you will find out who reads the news.Bonnie Millican reported that several from the Bend United Methodist church attended the Christmas Open House that their Pastor Celia and her husband Matt hosted at the parsonage in Lometa Saturday. It was a beautiful day and the food and fellowship was wonderful. Ray-mond, Lewvon Hicks, Bobby, Debbie and Laura Beth Hicks, Jerome and Shirley Meischen, OraBeth Hicks, Jackie and Charlene Brister, Pat and Bonnie Millican attended and enjoyed the food and fellowship.Sunday evening Pat, Bonnie Millican, as well as Raymond, Lewvon Hicks, Bobby, Debbie and Laura Beth Hicks was in Lampasas to listen to the Community Choir Cantata at the First United Methodist church. A choir of about 30 voices did a lovely production with the congregation invited to join in the singing of carols at times throughout the program. It was beautiful. There were handbells as well as gorgeous piano and organ music. It really set the mood for this time of the year!A Happy birthday wish goes out to Cody Kenney who will celebrate a birthday December 17, to Donnie Eckhoff and Diana Dowdy who will celebrate birthdays December 18.
