The nation of Iraq is often mentioned in current world news and there is much in the Bible on the nation of Iraq that may give us insight into the events happening in our world today. The relationship between Israel and Iraq is found throughout Biblical history and exploring their relationship will give understanding of God’s plan for mankind to unfold. Let us look at the historical references to Iraq in the Scriptures. 1. The garden of Eden where man was created was in Iraq. 2. Mesopotamia, which is considered by many to be the cradle of civilization is now in Iraq. 3. Noah built his ark as God commanded in Iraq. 4.The famous tower of Babel was attempted to be built in Iraq. 5. Abraham, whom God chose to be the forerunner of HIS chosen people came from Southern Iraq. 6. Rebekah, as the noted wife of Isaac came from Nahor in Iraq. 7. Jacob served 24 years for two of his wives in Iraq. 8. The prophet Jonah was brought to Nineveh by a big fish because God wanted him to preach there in Iraq. 9. Assyria which is called ,”the rod of “GOD’S wrath” where the ten lost tribes of Israel were captured, is in Iraq. 10. GOD’S prophet Amos preached in Iraq. 11. Daniel was thrown in the lion’s den in Iraq. 12. The three Hebrew children were thrown in a roaring fire in Iraq. 13. Jesus was seen as the fourth person in that fire before GOD sent HIM to be the savior of the world. 14. The three wise men who visited Jesus at his birth came from Iraq. The famous prophet Ezekiel preached in Iraq. 15. The great apostle Peter preached to many people in Iraq. 16. The evil empire described in Revelations is known as Babylon and is in Iraq. 17. Iraq is the cradle for the Muslim religion and it is competing with the Jewish believers. 18. Iraq has more religious history than any other nation in the world including Israel. And the above is only a partial listing . And now the spiritual history of Israel may not be as lengthy as Iraq’s, but it will reveal the power of ALMIGHTY GOD that is in force at this writing. It was mentioned in Iraq’s history that GOD made a covenant with Abraham to be the leader of His people; but God chose to make a new covenant to be stronger and better for the people of Israel. To jump to the greatest focal point of Israel’s history, it would have to be where the Holy Spirit of GOD impregnated a young virgin girl who was an Israelite, and at birth HE was named JESUS . GOD saw in HIM all that HE needed to establish a new covenant with HIS people. That is why JESUS is known as the only begotten son of GOD. And because JESUS was born in Israel, Israel is recognized as the home foundation and creation of Christianity.
