James Ivan Marion Hardy

James Ivan Marion Hardy died Friday December 7, 2012 at Hillview Manor in Goldthwaite, TX. James was born in 1925 to Virginia and Thomas Hardy in Lampasas County. He grew up in Red Bluff, TX and joined the U.S. Navy at age 17, serving in World War II on the U.S.S. Escalade (1943) and the U.S.S. Croner (1948). He married Ruth Gossett in 1945. During his lifetime, James worked as a farmer, rancher, policeman, plumber, and electrician. He owned a grocery store and served as Lampasas County Judge in late 1970’s. He was a member of Lometa Church of Christ, serving for some time as an elder.James is survived by his wife, Ruth; his sister, Dorothy May; son Les Hardy and his wife, Barbara; daughter, Jan Miles and husband, David; five grandchildren: Rusty Hardy, Mike Hardy, Eryn Hardy Wilcoxen, Jesse McGuire and Micah McGuire; six great-grandchildren: James Russell Hardy, Alex and Peyton Wilcoxen, Jackson, Hannah, and Joshua McGuire. James was a good friend, a Christian and the world’s greatest father.He was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers, Ethan and Foy Hardy.A funeral service for James Hardy was held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Lometa Church of Christ in Lometa, TX. Burial was at Senterfitt Cemetery. A visitation was held at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Memorials can be made to Cherokee Home for Children, P.O. Box 295, Chrokee, TX 76832.Sneed Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
