Lillian Gage Cobern

Lillian Gage Cobern, age 96, of San Saba, went home to our Lord on Monday, December 10, 2012. Mrs. Cobern was born near Bend, Texas on January 2, 1916 to Essie (Stafford) Gage and Rufus Ernest Gage. She was a member of the San Saba Church of Christ. Lillian or Aunt Tude, as the Gage family called her, was a nurse, avid fisherman and known for her fabulous pecan pies.Lillian married L.P. (Slim) Cobern on May 23, 1936 in San Saba, Texas. He preceded her in death on March 10, 1997. They had one son, James Rufus Cobern, who also preceded her in death. She is survived by her granddaughter, Vickilee (Cobern) Peters and her husband, David Peters of Duncanville; and her grandson, Rusty Cobern and his wife, Pam (Quirk) Cobern of Austin. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren; Ryan and Garrett Peters and Chase, Mason and Aubrey Cobern.A graveside memorial service will be held for Mrs. Cobern at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15 at the High Valley Cemetery, Bend, Texas.
