The 57th annual San Saba County Extension Education Council’s Pecan Food Show was held December 7th at the Court House. Eight judges from neighboring counties chose Mable Edmondson’s Pecan Fruit Cake as the Non- Club division Grand Champion. Janice Bates took the Reserve Champion honors with Carter’s Swedish Pecan Cookies. In the Club division the Marilyn Miller’s Zucchini Carrot Pecan Cake was given the Grand Champion rosette and Jackie Doner’s Pecan Brittle took the Reserve Champion honors.In the crowded youth division, Luis Vega took home the Grand Champion Rosette with his Toasted Coconut Pecan & Caramel Pie. Daisy Lara’s Crunchy Pecan Pie Bites won the Reserve Champion honors. All of these winners and the recipes that are shared will appear in the 2013 Pecan Show Champions Cookbook.
