Thursday, December 6, 2012 • Posted December 6, 2012

This past Saturday, 6 high school band students traveled to the Hamilton High School to compete in the ATSSB Region 7 All Region tryouts. SSHS band students competed against about 600 other students from region 7 in class 1A, 2A, and 3A to earn a chair placement in three region bands. These students practiced for months to prepare very challenging etudes along with mastering scales. Not every student chooses to take on this challenge. However, the following 6 SSHS band students chose to audition: Brandon Amstead (Tuba), Madison Monroe (Percussion), Dylan Edmondson (Trombone), John Watson (Alto Saxophone), Nickie Ortiz (Flute), and Katy Ingram (Flute). They all represented San Saba well, and received invaluable experience.Congrats to Brandon Amstead for placing 5th chair tuba in the Region Symphonic Band, and Madison Monroe for placing 4th chair in the Region Concert Band.. These two students will represent San Saba High School when they travel to Stephenville on January 18-19 for the Region 7 Clinic and Concert.
