The Lady Coyotes basketball team is 2-3 on the season. The Lady Coyotes played in the Gustine Tournament last week and won Consolation, winning 2 of 3 games. The Lady Coyotes will play in the Cherokee Tournament on December 6-8. The varsity basketball boys will be idle this week as they are still involved in state football playoff action. The junior high girls and boys both won games against Rochelle last week. This past Monday both teams hosted Lohn at Coyote Gym. As teachers prepare for the new STAAR tests, let’s not forget we still have TAKS testing in grade 11. Come visit with your child’s teachers and get involved in your child’s education. Gerald McKee commented that the San Saba County Livestock Show will be held January 18-19, 2013. Cold weather exerts more demands on show animals. Proper shelter and nutrition are important in keeping show animals healthy and growing. Contact Mr. McKee for assistance as necessary with your show animals.The elementary and junior high academic meets will be held next week. The elementary students in grades 2-6 will travel to Rochelle on Tuesday, December 11th and Wednesday, December 12th for UIL academic competition with area schools. Junior high students in grades 7-8 will travel to Lohn on Wednesday, December 12th for UIL academic competition. Students at Richland Springs have been working tirelessly to be successful in their events. Thanks to Nelson Smith for his help in organizing the academic meets. Special thanks to volunteer Melanie Smith for her efforts to mentor students in UIL academics.This week is the end of the 4th week in the 3rd six-week grading period, with only 9 ½ school days remaining prior to the Christmas break. Christmas break begins with an early release on December 21st, and students return to classes on January 7, 2013.The Community Christmas Program was held on Sunday, December 2nd at the First Christian Church. 4th and 5th grade performed, as well as the high school speech and drama students. The community joined and sang Christmas carols. Tis’ the season….The Coyote Sports Booster Club will meet this Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in the old band hall. Please bring yourself and a friend and be a part of this exciting “Fix On Six” celebration.Please come enjoy the food, fellowship, film, and door prizes. Bring your favorite covered dish. A good crowd supported the Coyotes at Hico Stadium, as the Coyotes notched a 78-42 quarter final victory over the Milford Bulldogs. It was a warm evening game for fans and players. Hats off to the cheerleaders for their efforts in boosting our school spirit.The semifinals game will be played against the Strawn Greyhounds at Hico at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8th. Richland Springs is Visiting Team and will sit on the Visitor Side. Ticket prices are $10 Adults/$5 Students. No Senior Passes will be accepted at the gate. We hope to see a good crowd of Coyote supporters at the game.
