Now that's a San Saba Community Thanksgiving!

It was a beautiful day in San Saba as the Community came together for the 12th Annual Thanksgiving Feast at The Father's House.The big event starts days ahead of time with many of the volunteers helping to do promotions, putting together a team of helpers to cook, get the room organized and decorated, lining up volunteers and the many great San Saba dessert providers. The true spirit of Thanksgiving comes through as many families make a pie for the community event at the same time they prepare one for their own house hold and guests.This is truly a community effort with various groups and individuals helping sponsor and contribute anything they can. The Ministerial Alliance, Mission San Saba, The Father's House Church, Lowe's Markets, San Saba News & Star, KBAL Radio, G&R Grocery and the Sweat Equity Group which brings in family members from Fort Worth, Houston, Midland, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio to help, and many volunteers, who typically total over 50.There was a constant ebb and flow of diners between 11:00-1:00 Thanksgiving Day. The mood was festive, with great food to meet great appetites, face painting for all the little ones, people working on deliveries, working the carry-out line, serving line, cooking going on inside and outside, and constant movement to keep tables clean and ready for the next hungry diner.Thanksgiving, as a holiday, is such a special time. It's a time to 1) Be Thankful and 2) To Give. In some ways, it's not like other holidays. Each individual has a chance to appreciate the good things and good people in their life. But also, there is an opportunity to shift our focus to others who maybe we can help, share time with, and learn from. Thank God we can be thankful and give. It helps us, it helps others and it helps make a special place even more special. That place is San Saba, Texas....
