I rushed to get this ready for an early deadline only to be emailed by Karen that there was no early deadline. So I am adding a few tidbits. I went into San Saba to do blood work on Wednesday. I think my doctor is great, but I don’t do medicines. All those side effects tend to freak me out. Apparently my blood pressure is running a little high. As far as I ‘m concerned there is a perfectly good reason…the new testing system. My poor little babies can’t function at the level some think tank nerd wants them to function. I want them to succeed, but some things are above and beyond the capabilities of a child. So I fret to no avail.

I need to remember all the good things that God has given to me. I have great health, a beautiful homey place to live, a super job and loving friends. My children are all doing well and my grandchildren are bright and happy. I am blessed beyond all measures. I live in a cute little town that’s a little dusty on the edges, but it is a neat place in which kids can thrive and grow. I enjoy my church community. I say community because the churches in town all seem to work together to make this a good place. As the Bible says, my lines are in good places. Please remember all the families who are not in good places. For many there was no big feast or happy families. For some it was the first time they had a precious family member missing from the dinner table. Tens of thousands of troops were absent from their families. Those need our prayers and God’s blessings to make it through the next month or so of happy holidays.

I had a house full of guests for the Thanksgiving holiday. We had a great time putting up the lights on my gate. It’s not evenly balanced, but it is brightly lit. We even decorated the gate up by the house. Still no word about Glen, but I am getting worried. The grass burrs are so heavy you can’t even walk around the house without getting loaded down with burrs. Earl told us he was doing fine in his area and then that last rain came, and they seemed to just take over. I understand that remark. My yard, my pasture and almost every part of the farm is just loaded with new plants. When you try to pull them up, the seeds fly in all directions. Glen wasn’t too good at handling them when he was a little pup. I’m not sure how he will do now that he is almost one. I’m enjoying some good venison summer sausage from my newly adopted son Chris. He is bent upon improving my opinion of deer products and hunting. I must say this sausage is pretty good. I haven’t seen any deer around in the last week or so. Actually, that is almost right. I have seen many deer on the side of the road. I think we are losing as many to cars as we are to hunters.

UIL for elementary is just a few short weeks away. Everyone should be practicing something. My students were learning a new song for the Christmas program at school. Some of them are going to sing at the Community Christmas Program on December 2

Please pray for our country, our congress and our President. Thank you God for all the wonderful blessings we have in this country. Please pray for our sick, our grieving families and our precious troops and their families.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Here comes Christmas!

nd. We’re hoping to have a good turn out that evening. We will be starting around 6:30pm. I understand Cherokee will also have their program that evening. So you have a choice of events. Don’t you just love all these holiday and Christmas programs?
