San Saba County Friends of Animals welcomes new members
Thursday, November 29, 2012 • Posted November 29, 2012

We’re official! In early October, San Saba County Friends of Animals (SSCFOA) took the important step of becoming a Texas nonprofit corporation. Soon after that, we sponsored a booth at Pecan Jam so that we could began spreading the word about our organization’s mission of helping lost, abandoned, neglected and abused animals in San Saba County. We also accepted donations and signed up our first members. Our sincere thanks go to everyone who stopped by to get information and support our group.

As we continue our fund-raising efforts and work toward getting SSCFOA’s tax exemption in place, we are starting our search for a place to locate our shelter facility. Several sites are under consideration. We are also working to develop rules and procedures for animal surrender, care and treatment, pet adoption and volunteering at the shelter.

Recently, a group of SSCFOA board members and volunteers traveled to the Corinne T. Smith Animal Center in Brownwood to tour that facility and learn about its operations. The two senior staff members at the shelter spent the afternoon showing us around, providing us with information and forms and patiently answering our many, many questions. The visit was extremely informative and gave us quite a lot to consider. We plan to visit similar facilities in the surrounding counties to learn as much as possible about animal sheltering from those with experience in this area.

We invite all San Saba County residents to support our activities by joining SSCFOA. Adults may sign up for individual memberships, and family membership is available to any adult individual or couple and his, her or their dependent children. Annual dues for the coming year are $10 per individual membership and $20 per family membership.

Please become a member by filling out the application below and returning it with your membership dues today. With your help, we can make a huge difference in the lives of lost, abandoned, neglected and abused animals in San Saba County. Thank you, and welcome to SSCFOA!
