The holiday season is in full swing. I was blessed with a houseful of guests for the Thanksgiving holiday. Family and friends traveled from Watauga, Brock, Mineral Wells, Brady, Hamilton, Austin and San Marcos. I was especially blessed to have my 88 year old great aunt, Wynell Roper, from Brady and her son, Richard, in attendance for our holiday meal. Two empty spots at the table were those of my sons who serve in the US NAVY, Rod and Khalid. As we go about our busy days through this season, let us take time to be thankful for our military men and women who proudly serve this great country- 365/24/7!

Coyote football, basketball and UIL academics are in full swing at school. Our "corner" of the county can take great pride in the Richland Springs teams who represent us, both in academics and sports. The Coyotes won Friday night against Jonesboro. The next playoff game will be against Milford, in Hico, at 7:30 pm. The Lady Coyotes and junior high basketball teams have both had a successful start to their season. Elementary and Junior high students are busy preparing for the UIL academic meets in December. It is a busy time of year!

Unfortunately not a drop of rain to report and none is in the immediate forecast. Nights are cool and the days have warmed into the 70’s. The changing leaves on the trees dot the landscape with beautiful color. It is a good time of year for those outdoor projects that didn’t get attention during the hot summer months.

I can be reached at the email address:elmgroveechoes@yahoo-.com. Please send information about your family gatherings or other information that you would like passed along to the community. For example, the Cummings grandchildren and great grandchildren have grown up "before our eyes" in this column. I hope they continue to stay in touch and keep us informed.

Have a great week!
