We are getting very close to the end of the second six weeks and soon the end of the first semester. It is very concerning how quickly time is passing and the few days that we have left to get much needed instruction completed. On top of needed instruction time, several students will be taking End of Course Exams (EOC’s) soon hoping to pass at the higher level II standard. Retesting for EOC’s at SSHS will take place during the week of December 3-7. The schedule is as follows: Writing = Dec. 3rd, Reading = Dec. 4th, Algebra I = Dec. 5th, Biology = Dec. 6th, World Geography = Dec. 7th . Please help your kiddos by making note of these dates so that they will be well rested and ready to master the EOC they will be taking. Please call the high school if you need information regarding your student's testing status. The end of the second six-weeks grading period will be Friday, November 16, and the final six- week grading period and nine-week grading period will be very short ending the last day of school for the fall semester, which is December 21. The first semester is fifteen days shorter than the second (spring) semester. School started later than usual this year making our first semester shorter. We end the first semester before Christmas because it is in the students’ best interest to conduct semester exams and end the semester prior to Christmas break rather than come back after Christmas, review for exams and then test. As well, the spring semester is filled full of extra curricular events; therefore, having extra days in the spring will assist instructionally during the busy extra curricular season. Please make note that we will be observing the Thanksgiving Holiday next week beginning Wednesday, November 21 through Friday, November 23. School will resume regular schedule on Monday, November 26. Christmas break will be observed beginning with an early release day on December 21 continuing through January 4, 2013. School will resume after Christmas break on January 7, 2013. Teachers will return to school on January 4, 2013 for a teacher in-service/workday.So proud of our kiddos performing well in their sports programs! Keep it up ‘Dillos!!!
