There are still plenty of bucks to be had.The election is gone and done with. Just think no more stuff in your mail box and no more phone calls asking for your vote. Now if Washington could just their act together and do what is needed for the country we would all be so much better off.A big mistake was made in last weeks paper concerning the Bend Community meeting. It was reported that it would begin at 6:30 and it should have been 6:00 p.m. So please make note and be there ready to eat at six. The paper didn’t make a misprint it was, you know who did it! Just chalk it up to forgetfulness or old age or whatever. Everything else was correct concerning the meeting and the entertainment. Jerry Don and Neal Hensley of Denison visited the Price family. They enjoyed dinner at Gage’s Bar-B- Que Thursday night. Jerry tried their hamburger and he reported it was the best he had eaten in a long time, the rest ate bar-b-que, which was of course good..Laura Beth Hicks traveled to Arizona and New Mexico with her mother Donna Wittenberg and her Aunt Leslie Spraggins’ family. Laura Beth’s favorite attractions were White Sands and Carlsbad Cavern in New Mexico and a silver mine in Tomb Stone Arizona.Lewvon and Orabeth Hicks are visiting with Belinda Hicks Wierschem in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. During their visit with Belinda they are helping her reorganize her house and winterize her yard and plants. They will return on the 15th and reorganize their houses after leaving Jim and Raymond alone for a week. Orabeth and Lewvon should have planned ahead and had Jim and Raymond stay together and then they would have had just one house to reorganize when they get back home.On October 30, Debbie Hicks began her new job as Office Manager at the Colorado River State Park. The Hicks family is so happy for Debbie to have a job near home and one that she is so pleased with. The breakfast and program for the Vets Monday at the high school gym was a big success this year. The high school children who served the delicious breakfast and the ones who helped with the program are to be congratulated for the excellent job they did and of course the ladies who prepared the food. There was a fairly large attendance. From the Bend area Bill and Jo Price, Bill and Fran Hulgan and George Dennis was noticed in the crowd. A lot of different activities were also planned for the veterans. It was announced at the meeting that the fee to rent the Senior Center had gone up. If you plan to use the facility call ahead to get the correct rental fee.Happy birthday greetings go out to Boyd Clark and Bill Arms whose birthdays are November 21, to Silas Clark who will celebrate a birthday November 22. It looks like father, uncle and son will all celebrate a birthday this week! Congratulations go out to Raymond and Lewvon Hicks whose anniversary is November 18, to Emerson and Gladys Brister whose anniversary is November 19, and to Don and Eileen Portie whose anniversary is November 20.
