30 Years AgoNovember 4, 1982Be sure to drop by and visit Sanderson Pecan Company during their open house on Saturday, November 6th on Hwy 16 in the new building. There will be free pie and coffee to all those who drop by Saturday.Members of the Pierian Study Club will meet at 1:00p.m. each Monday in the Commissioners Courtroom at the Courthouse to work on bringing the local cemetery association's card file addresses up-to-date. Kenneth and Maude Ann Kuykendall have returned home from New York City where Kenneth attended the Fall Board Meeting of the National Association of Conservation Districts. He is the Director from Texas. They stayed in the New York Statler in Madison Square Garden in downtown Manhattan.Marcia Catelan de Mendonca, the Rotary Club Exchange Student, arrived in San Saba early in 1982 from Brazil, ready to share with us a year of her young life. Walker, who served as a missionary in Korea for 23 years will address the congregation of the New Hope Presbyterian Church and the Sloan Community Sunday, November 9th at 7:00p.m.The 14 Women's Home Demonstrations Clubs in this county each exhibited a feature of their work in the annual Achievement Day Program Thursday.100 Years AgoNovember 7, 1912The San Saba Lumber Co. reports the following residence building operations either contracted or contemplated: B.B. Duey, a 5-room residence in Riverview addition; E.R. Meador, a 5 room residence in Sloan addition; T.C. Henry, a 6-room residence on the north half of his home lot. This will be occupied by A.R. Mosley. And Ruben Senterfitt, a 5-room residence.For a first class job of horse shoeing try the San Saba Mfg. Co. They also treat the horses' feet.Buck Chamberlain has resigned the office of Justice of the Peace and gone to Fort Stockton to accept a position in the office of Sheriff and Tax Collector, D.S. Barker.Mrs. O. Inabnit has resigned her position as teacher of music in the public school at San Saba at the board meeting Tuesday night, Miss Essie Hudson was elected to fill the unexpired term.Our own Dick Miller walked off with high score in the cattle judging contest at the Dallas fair. He was also second best in hog judging contest, losing only two points out of 230.
