Last week one of my neighbors was telling how another neighbor down the road came home early and encountered a young man entering his home and another putting my neighbor's possessions in their car. He called the sheriff and chased them down the road. The sheriff was able to intercept them and they were apprehended. That event reminded me of something in the Bible. If we have truly accepted Christ as Lord and Savior, we have a promise of rewards. Not just salvation or eternal life, forever in the presence of God, but special rewards for how we live our Christian life here on earth. The world we live in, our own flesh and the devil are our enemies, (Galatians 5:16&17, 1 Peter 5:8, 1 John 2:15&16). Do not let them steal our rewards! Every Christian at the rewards ceremony will receive something, but Christians who have acted like saints on Sunday and lived like the devil Monday through Saturday will receive very little, (1 Corinthians 3:13-15). Faithfulness to God, staying true to His word or no false doctrine, constantly seeking and doing His will, leading others to Christ, preaching and teaching God's word are just a few of the things we will be rewarded for, (1 Peter 4: 1&2). Christians will never stand with those who have rejected Christ because they will be in a different place and encounter a judgment, not rewards, (2 Peter 2:9-22, Revelation 20:11-15).
