Title No. Five for Shelby Hardy

Gulf Shores, Ala — Senior Shelby Hardy became the all-time “winningest” women’s golfer at Sam Houston State by bringing home the individual medalist trophy at the Alabama-Birmingham Fall Beach Bash. The tournament was held October 29th & 30th at the par 72, 6023 yd, Peninsula Golf Club. Hardy took medalist honors with a four-over score of 76-72=148, one stroke ahead of Juliana Herrera of Southern Mississippi.The tournament victory was the fifth of Hardy’s collegiate career and her second event win this fall. She won the Oral Roberts tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Oct. 1st & 2nd. At this event, she also fired a four-over total of 72-75-70=217 to finish three strokes ahead of Julie Aime of Lamar on the par 71, 6120 yd, Meadowbrook Country Club.Sam Houston’s Raman Saran previously held the record for most individual tournament championships in a career with four from 2002 to 2005. Hardy also had finishes of 3rd (tied) in Monroe, La., 8th in Huntsville, Tx., and 13th(tied) in Memphis, Tn. this fall and she will resume play in the Spring with a 74.07 season stroke average. Team-wise, the Bearkat women had 2 second places finishes and 2 third places in their 5 tournaments this fall.
