Thursday, November 8, 2012 • Posted November 8, 2012

On Saturday morning, November 3rd, Ben Burns, Leander, Texas was the first customer for the 2012 General Season for White-tailed deer at Hibler & Sons Slaughter & Processing in San Saba. Ben hunted 5 miles west of San Saba where he has been hunting for six years. With a Tikka T3 30-06 he shot an 8 point buck at 100 yards and a short time later was surprised to find two cub bobcats and shot them at 15 yards. The second customer at Hibler & Sons on Saturday, November 3rd was Clifton Conner, Waco, Texas (Edward & Linda Ragsdale’s nephew), shooting a 10 point buck at 320 yards and a 4 point at 10 yards. Clifton has been hunting for 20 years at the Ragsdale Ranch off CR 111. Because of the drought conditions last year his hunting was unsuccessful so he was thankful to have “the meat” this year. Stacey Boehm, Kerrville, Texas was the third customer at Hibler & Sons on Saturday, November 3rd. He hunted for the first time around 2 miles north of Richland Springs last year and because of the drought conditions was unsuccessful. This year he was successful in shooting a 10 point buck at 75 yards.According to Larry Hibler, of Hibler & Sons Slaughter & Processing in San Saba, at 11 a.m. Monday, November 5th, they have recorded 200 deer to be processed - 90% of them bucks, which is unusual.
