The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met November 1, 2012 for the monthly business meeting with the following ladies present: Jo Anne Hardy, Peggy Jones, Jo Ann Snow, Hattie Rogers, Dorothy Sterner, Janet Hoyt, Sandee Hartley, and Anita Miles. President Anita Miles called the meeting to order and the meeting was opened with prayer by Hattie Rogers. Secretary Jo Anne Hardy read the minutes and they were approved as read and Treasurer Hattie Rogers gave the financial report. Sandee Hartley, 4-Ball Chair, announced there will be no Traveling 4-Ball until next spring. The president announced that San Saba will be hosting the 4-Ball annual meeting in January 2013. The president presented the project ‘Wreaths Across America’ sponsored by Colorado River Chapter, UDC but the organization decided to do a local presentation for our deceased members, which will be decided on at a later date. The ladies voted to have the Christmas party on December 13, 2012, which is our regular play day, and to have pizzas and to bring snacks at noon at the RV Club room. If the weather permits golf, the party will begin after play. All members are invited and urged to be present for this fun event. We will play games and fellowship. The president then announced the good news that our own Shelby Hardy has just broken the ladies golf record at Sam Houston for most medalist wins! She was tied with four wins and now has five. I predict during the spring she will set more records that will be hard to break! We are so proud of Shelby and how she represents San Saba with her great golf - but more important her high standards and good sportsmanship she always displays. The ladies voted unanimously to send her a gift with our congratulations! The meeting adjourned with the Chair for November, Janet Hoyt, calling for a game of Six, Six, Six, where a team plays the first six holes as best ball, the second six holes a scotch twosome, and the last six as low ball. First Place went to Dorothy Sterner and Jo Anne Hardy, they also scored the only birdie, and Second Place to Peggy Jones and Anita Miles. Actually Janet and her partner, Sandee Hartley, tied for first but they had begun play on the #10 hole and began with the best ball, not realizing this put them out of sequence with the game, and being honorable and good sports they withdrew their team and forfeited first place. October 25, 2012 three ladies came out to play on play day, Dorothy Sterner, Janet Hoyt, and Sandee Hartley and they just chose to play best ball and have fun, that’s what it’s all about! They declared they all won! How good is that? If you haven’t met our new golf pro, Chucky Jennings, you’ve missed out. He is such a nice man and always smiling and delightful. I think he is going to be a great asset to the San Saba River Golf Course. We look forward to meeting his family, that haven’t moved to San Saba yet. And I think ‘Chuckylove’, that’s his nickname, knows an awful lot about ‘swinging’!
