Friday, October 26 was an exciting day for the residents at Pecan Valley. The San Saba Middle School students presented their annual Costume Parade. The young people were dressed up from pretty little princesses to ugly ghouls. The residents thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of them and would like to thank them all for coming to visit. Also on Friday was the facility Halloween Party. Winners from the door decorating, pumpkin decorating and costume contests were announced (more pictures next week), followed by the residents hitting a piñata, having cupcakes and punch. Saturday night children came to Trick or Treat the residents. Children went room to room and collected their treats and no tricks were reported. Pecan Valley also presented for the first time, a spook house in the big white house next door. It was a huge success and enjoyed by many, many county children and adults alike. Activity Director Pam Van Cleave was in charge of the spook house and had much needed help from volunteers from the nursing home, teenagers from all over the county and many others. Pam and the residents thank everyone who helped to raise much needed money for the resident Christmas Party. The San Saba Pre-school students came on October 30th with yet another costume parade and visited with the residents. Residents were heard to say, “Oh, they are so cute.” And “How precious.” October was an exciting month for all of us and now we are all looking forward to fun times in November and Thanksgiving.
