The Friends of the Rylander Memorial Library invite you to hear Jan Devereaux on Monday, November 12th. Beginning at 2:00 p.m. she will give you the true story about one of the Wild West’s most fascinating women, Lottie Deno who is said to be the real life basis for Gunsmoke’s Miss Kitty. Lottie is the subject of Jan’s excellent book “Pistols, Petticoats & Poker: The Real Lottie Deno, No Lies or Alibis”Before becoming a respected New Mexico lady, Lottie Deno earned a reputation as a stalwart survivor in a man’s world of the frontier saloon in some of the roughest towns in Texas. She reportedly bested none other than Doc Holliday at poker and was otherwise competent, in demand, and profitable after hours. Following the presentation you will be able to visit with Jan while refreshments are served.
