Thursday, November 8, 2012 • Posted November 8, 2012

A few able-bodied members from the San Saba High School Classes of '48 and '49 met Oct. 27th at Pepperbelly's private room. Arnold Hayes and wife, Tommie, greeted members and guests, treating them to various eye-opening beverages. After everyone got their eyes focused and memories jogged, they began visiting and reminiscing.Arnold reported on the responses he had received from the members of the '48 class and Nettie Oma Carpenter gave a list of the '49 class members who had sent in their regrets. Some of these letters were passed around for all to read. After an invocation by Arnold, a Dutch treat meal was enjoyed, with most present being grateful for the "Senior Specials" on the menu. As nap-time approached around 2:00p.m., farewells were said with hopes to meet again at a reunion whether here or above. Those in attendance from the '48 class were: Arnold Hayes and wife, Tommie; Jack M. Blossman and wife, Donna; Betty Thornton Miller, daughter Gaylee Smith and sister Gloria Thornton Lusty (class of '45); Glennetta Rash Sanderson; Wanda Barton Barnes; Jack Taff; Jeanette Taff Collins and daughter Sue Hurley; and Billy Joe McIntosh. The forty-niners present were: Ova Jean McDaniel Hutson, Patsy Schneider Shahan, Nettie Oma Ragsdale Carpenter and Pat Reavis, representing her husband and Class President, James Reavis, who was unable to attend.A special thanks to San Saba News & Star for announcing the reunion in their "Community Calendar" column.
