The Ugly Couple
Thursday, November 1, 2012 • Posted November 1, 2012

Last week I was driving down a country road when I noticed a couple standing near the roadside not very well dressed, their clothes were dirty, hair unkept and their appearance was not too good. I had an appointment to keep or I might have stopped, but as I drove on down the road I was reminded of something in the Bible. We are told to love others as ourselves and as Christ loved us, (Matthew 5:43-48) but sometimes that can be a problem. We may not really love others or if we do it is someone that is well dressed, talks nice or lives in a nice home. God tells us to love everyone and especially other Christians, (1 John 4:7-11). But what if we do not? We need to realize that it is a sin. We lack something in our Christian life and we need to confess or admit it to God, ask him to change our heart and fill us with His Holy Spirit, (Ephesians 5:15-18). The more we abide in Christ the more love we will have in our heart, (Galatians 5:22-25). We are warned to not playact or put up a false front to impress people or for recognition, as God knows our true heart or what is on the inside, (Luke 11:42-44, 20:46, Revelation 2:19). I am so thankful God has unconditional love for us, (John 3:16). See you in Church next Sunday
