Thelma Millican

Thelma Millican, 100, of San Saba, passed away on Sunday October 21, 2012. She was born August 6, 1912 in Lampasas County, the daughter of Docia Linsey McCrea and A.T. McCrea. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church San Saba. Through the years she helped deliver Meals-on -Wheels and she loved to cook, and share, especially her divinity. She also was a very generous and loving person. She also lovingly encouraged her family in all their endeavors and was able to share significant goals that several generations achieved in their lives. She loved being outside in her yard, working at the ranch, fishing, and hunting in Colorado. She and Poly shared many great adventures during their 64 years together enduring the depression and World War II, the ups and downs of agriculture and traveling over most of the U.S. She even visited Europe and her stories inspired one grandchild to live abroad. Her life was abundant and joyful and now she will receive her prize as she finishes her race here on Earth. Thelma is survived by her daughter, Sylvia McGregor and her husband, Forrest of San Saba; four grandchildren: Greg and Paula McGregor, Cathy and Randy Anderson, Blake Thames, Todd and Debbie Thames, ten great- grandchildren and two great- great- grandchildren; one sister, Lavern Carlile of Lampasas; and numerous nieces and nephews; and her sister- in- law Elsie Millican of San Saba. She was preceded in death by her husband, V. Poly Millican, her daughter Mary Nell Thames, her parents, one brother, Herbert McCrea. Graveside Services were held at the San Saba Cemetry, on Wednesday, October 24, at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Don Harrington officiating. There was a visitation preceding the service. The family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church or to the San Saba County Volunteer EMS.
