Thanks to parents who had conferences with teachers last Friday afternoon. Parent involvement is key to student success. This Friday is also the end of the 3rd week grading period of the second six-week grading period. Look for notices of concern from teachers in the mail. If you do receive a notice of concern, please schedule a conference with your child’s teacher.Teachers and staff were trained in CPR/AED use last Friday. Robyn Tucker, school nurse from the Region 15 Education Service Center, was on hand to guide teachers and staff through the training. Richland Springs has four AED’s (defibrillators) on campus. Football action continues this week for both junior high and varsity teams. The junior high Coyotes will host Mullin on Thursday. The varsity Coyotes will also host Mullin at Coyote Field on Friday for the first district game. Come out and support the cheerleaders and the student athletes at the games; you won’t be disappointed!The Richland Springs Independent School District has received a superior achievement rating for the 2011-2012 school year on School FIRST, or Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas.Varsity basketball practice is here. Girls got into the athletic action with basketball drills and practice beginning October 17th. Boys’ basketball practice begins October 24th. Many small schools like Richland Springs hold off on basketball practice for boys until football is over. There are not enough students to fill both the football roster and the basketball roster. Varsity girls’ coach Thomas Tipton has been working hard to get the Lady Coyotes in shape. They are working on fundamentals. Varsity Lady Coyotes this year are Brooklyn McGinty, Cheyenne Tharp, Ashlyn Grady, Taylor Terry, Lexus Neal, Brittany Bush, Bralei Lewis, and Hailee Ashworth.Gerald McKee and the San Saba Young Farmers will tag the Richland Springs goats and sheep this Saturday, October 27th at 9:30 a.m. at the Richland Springs Feeding Facility. Validation for the San Saba County show and for the various state shows will be at the Richland Springs Feeding Facility located near the west end of the Richland Springs School football field. Tell Mr. McKee thanks for getting this done locally at Richland Springs. The Young Farmers do a lot of behind-the-scene work to help our FFA and 4H students.We have a great community, students, teachers and staff.
