Class of 1962 celebrates 50th Reunion
Thursday, October 18, 2012 • Posted October 18, 2012

Thirteen members of the graduating class of 1962 along with spouses and friends gathered to celebrate their 50th reunion at the meeting room of the Commercial National Bank on Saturday, October 6th. A delicious barbecue meal with all the trimmings was served by Gage’s Barbecue. Members of that class were joined by six others who had been members of the original class and adopted back into the group. Those class members gathered were George Amthor III and wife, BillieJean; Wilbur Aylor; Zudora Brown Keele and husband, Max; Darlis Cummins and wife, JoAnn; Bill Doyle and wife, Sandi; Martin Edmondson; Faye Fitzgerald Lusty, and husband Darrel; Jean Gage McKee; Larry Gage and wife, Sally; Johnnie Mae Gatliff Perkins; Robert Grimes and wife, Barbara; Don Harkey and wife, Beverly; Matthew Kuykendall; Diane Patton Maldonado; Michael Phillips and wife, Laurel; Patricia Renfro Warren and husband, Henry; Brenda Sloan Lane; Larry Slaughter and wife, Judy; Larry Dale Smith and wife, Betty; and Ingram Whitley. Sadly there have been eleven deaths from that original group. They are gone but not forgotten – Dick Aubrey, Lydia Cantu Smith, William DeWeese, Casey Hibler Jr., John Lee Horn, Larry Claude Keele, Lois Kelly Green, Billy Maultsby, Patsy Pafford, Annette Verette Hooten, and Louis Woods. Regretfully, eighteen other class members were unable to attend. Also in attendance were Frances Hibler, wife of our deceased class member, Casey, and our 2012 scholarship recipient, Lauren Dawson, accompanied by her college roommate. The girls attend Texas A&M and are working toward Chemical Engineering degrees. Those of us who were able to come together had a wonderful time visiting and reminiscing. “Those were the days, my friend!”
