Parent involvement is the key to a successful school and to the success of our students. Most of us probably operate from the notion that if the school calls it is a bad thing. I can remember my parents telling me, “I better not get a call from school,” or “ If you get in trouble at school, you are going to get it double when you get home.” Hopefully, this is no longer the case and when you get a call from someone at school; hopefully, you are getting a good call. Even if the phone call is telling you that your child is missing homework. This is a good phone call because it alerts you that we need your help. The nature of our world today dictates that it takes parents, the community and teachers all working together to provide our students with the tools they need to be successful in life. Our kids need mentors and adults who want to take an interest in them and help them learn the hard lessons that will prepare them for life. Hard work now while in school, and taking advantage of every opportunity presented to students will pave the road for an easier life once they become adults. If we can teach students the academic things they need to meet any challenge and we provide them with the skills that grow confidence, then we have done a good job. Please take advantage of all opportunities to become involved with the school children of San Saba. Open house/Parent Academy will be coming up on Monday, October 22 for San Saba Elementary School. Please go and visit your child’s classroom to see what your children are learning so that you can support them in their academic pursuits. Parents – you are very important to us and teachers and principals like to see you! We just completed the end of the first 6 weeks grading period for SSMS/SSES and nearing the end of the first 9 weeks for SSHS. Now is the perfect time to check with your child’s teacher regarding their progress.Parents, let us know how we can help you the first day of school all the way until the last day of school!!
